钢丝弹性小,压膜较紧,在风力不大时,棚膜被风吹起时上下起伏较小,不易受到损害。但风力大时,只要气流一进入拱棚中,棚膜上下起伏幅度较大,由于钢丝直径在0.15cm-0.25cm,与棚膜的接触面积较小,没有弹性的钢丝就很容易将棚膜勒破。而且,这种钢丝随着雨水的增多,其寿命也不够长久,如果检查不及时,极容易被风吹断,刮坏薄膜。
